Neither test is better in general. IELTS Academic tests general academic English. OET tests the English used in healthcare, with case scenarios from clinical settings. The right choice depends on the regulator you apply to, because each regulator publishes its own list of accepted tests and the score it asks for. Start with that list for your destination, then compare only the tests on it. If both are accepted, choose the one where your practice scores are higher and whose exam dates fit your plan. Compare fees and retake rules on each test's official site. Our free IELTS and OET reading practice helps you build speed in both formats, but practice is not a score. Save your official result and the date you took it, because regulators often ask for the original report.
