A training bond is a warning sign when it is above the legal limit for the country, so check that limit before you agree to anything. Our fake-agent check lists training bonds above the legal limit as a sign to stop. Ask the employer for the bond terms in writing, including the amount, the period and the repayment rule. Check that any repayment is limited to costs the employer paid, and that the amount reduces over time. Do not sign a contract you have not read in full, and keep a copy. Ask whether the bond is required by the employer or by the agency, because the answer changes who must pay. If you cannot get clear answers in writing, do not sign. The fake-agent check sets out the questions to ask and the rules by country.
