Our target
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We do not claim full conformance yet.
What has been tested
- Automated scans with axe-core (rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA, plus best-practice rules such as heading order) on the home page, destinations, a country page, practice pages and a practice question after an answer, community, privacy, terms and the 404 page. The scans run in Chromium at a desktop size (1440 px) and a phone size (390 px). English is scanned on every page; Arabic and Malayalam are scanned on selected pages.
- Keyboard-only tests of the header and menus: the skip link comes first, every control can be reached with Tab in order with a visible focus mark, and menus open with Enter and close with Escape.
Known gaps
- We have not tested with real screen readers (for example NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or TalkBack). The Guide chat window in particular has not been checked with them.
- Automated scans find only part of the problems. A full manual audit and testing with disabled users have not been done.
- Translations were made with software and have not all been reviewed by native speakers, which can affect clarity for people who use a screen reader in that language.
- Listening practice uses the voice built into your device. Quality differs between devices and languages.
- Pages from other websites that we link to, and third-party content such as ads and partner pages, are outside our control.
- Legal pages, guide text and Latest news items are in English with a translated summary.
